History for
The Feasts of Israel
(history as of 15/02/2016 22:08:20)
In this short course we look at the seven "Mosaic" feasts—the three spring feasts, the feast of Pentecost, and the three fall feasts:
- Passover (Pesach)
- Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMotzi)
- First Fruits (Reshit Katzir / Yom HaBikkurim)
- Weeks / Pentecost (Shavu'ot)
- Trumpets (Yom Teru'ah)
- Atonement (Yom Kippur)
- Tabernacles / Booths (Sukkot)
Our aim is to not only examine these feasts from the point of view of Israel, but to also explore how they relate to us as Christians. In our (Western) world, we think of prophecy as "prediction"; to the Jews, prophecy was (and is) "pattern"—these feasts are a classic example of that paradigm, being prophetic of Christ's first coming (the spring feasts), the birth of the Church (Pentecost), and Christ's second coming (the fall feasts).
